Question: Why have we gone totally Google?
Answer: Because they're good, good for us, good for you and good to themselves.
Google have developed a wonderful and powerful set of application that can be used as a collaborative suite, so much so, that you will find it changes they way you conduct your business.
We know this because it happened to us and everyone that we had introduced the apps to has since stuck with us on it.
You'll be able to synchronise calendars with colleges or even external partners on a project, you can create and share word type documents and excel type spreadsheets that you can create and edit on the fly in the cloud (and get this; 'with a number of people editing the document at the same time'. Wow!).
You can create a floating drive on any device you choose and drop files and folders in there that can be accessed across all you devices even share if you soo choose.
You can create internal websites for your team (a private intranet if you like) and you can even make those show publicly if necessary.
Of course for us it is Google's Gmail webmail client that we were particularly interested in and being that we are professional developers, we have managed to create enhancements to Google's mail client that we have labeled MVE-Gmail.
Aside from the chat and video conferencing with upto nine people that can be achieved, we have added enhancements to programmatically filter incoming emails to whitelist (inbox), graylist (questionables) and obviously blacklist (spam) folders for easy, time effecient sorting, and through our developments we are able to reach spam reduction of up to 90-95%.
If you are interested and you are reading this even though our site is still in construction, leave your name and email address and we'll get back to you as soon as we get fully functional ourselves - this time span is going to be at least 6-8 weeks from 25th March 2013.
If you're anything like us, then you can't stand spam in your inbox - now we present the ultimate way to beat it - no BS!
If you have any kind of email kind of account, then there is no doubt you have experienced the scourge of this media… SPAM!
This website has come about as a result of our developers being bombarded with thousands of spam emails when in fact they only expected one or two. Taking 30 to 40 minutes each day just to download them and a further 30 minutes sorting them out left our developers neglecting to receive any emails for days. Clearly this could not go on, so, we came up with a winning solution that you too can now benefit from… read on or just register and get started.
An email service is just like a post office:
(1) You compose your letter/message
(2) You take it to a post office or post box to post it (that's the same as clicking your 'Send' button to take it to your Internet Service Provider - ISP)
(3) The post office staff sort it to go to the right place/address (ie. your ISP's servers sort it so that it gets routed in the right direction)
(4) The post office send one of their agent -- the postman -- to deliver it in your post box (ie. your ISP's server sends the message up a chain of networked servers until it reaches it's destination).
Now, the recipient may or may not have known that letter/message was on it's way to them and so the sender could have been anyone soliciting the recipients attention for something - and bam, you have SPAM!
The million dollar question is: How Do You Control That!
We believe we have an answer, it's not full-proof, but it is somewhat bullet-proof.
1) When you register with MVE what you are doing is telling us what emails you send from any device you use.
Immediately we know that these emails are emails you know of.
How? Because you or someone on your logged-in device is sending them.
Perfect: these are your whitelist emails.
Whitelist emails are such that you absolutely know of their addresses and so you welcome them into your inbox when they arrive.
2) When someone you know of or not that is not in your whitelist because:
(a) you have not listed them as a known email address in your list of valid emails or...
(b) you have not sent out an email to that address for MVE to automatically whitelist, then...
MVE will send the email back to the sender requiring the input of an ID that MVE generates. Once this id is entered and sent back with a couple of answered questions, it means that we have at least established that the sender is (i) human - not a machine such that spammers use and (ii) genuine to some degree, since they really want the message to get to you.
This is what we call a graylist email: it means that the email has been partially validated as genuine but needs you to finalise the verification to whitelist status by moving it to your inbox or selecting the 'Accept As Valid' or 'Decline As Spam' radio button options in your MVE graylist email that is automatically sent to you when you login to your MVE-Gmail service.
3) There is one other validation required and that is when receiving emails from lists, groups, social media, shopping site, govenment or federal agencies and so-on and so-forth.
To get over this problem we ask you to enter their site or domain names so that we can validate for you, any emails coming from those addresses.
For example, if you shop at walmart.com and/or tesco.com and you expect any emails from unisef.org, you can let us know this in two ways.
(1) send an email to yourself using the registered email address you have at MVE so that the first line of the message contains only the words Valid or Validate (case sensitivity does not matter) and then on subsequent lines enter each address. It is important that the first line contains only the word valid or validate otherwise this just ends up as an ordinary email.
If this is too technical for you, simply login to your account and open the 'My Valid Addresses' window and enter the names of the sites there. For speed, you can also do this from the home page of MVE.
4)finally we end up with what you don't actually want; a box full of spam, however, some spam may be good and so it is convieniently tucked away in its own little container for you to sort through at your leisure.
This is known as the blacklist. To validate anything in your blacklist simply drag it to you inbox to remain there for at least 24 hours so that MVE will automatically validate it.

We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant service, or as long as is set out in any relevant contract you hold with MVE or MVE's corporate retention schedule (this is a database that defines which documents should be kept and for how long). In the case that you wish to cancel your registration as a myvalidemails.com member, once an account is deleted a red flag goes on the database and, while people cannot use the personal information, it stays on the system for a period of one year for administration purposes before being deleted automatically.
Where you contribute to myvalidemails.com MVE will generally only keep your content for as long as is reasonably required for the purpose(s) for which it was submitted. For example, MVE will only keep copies of entries to a photographic competition for the duration of the competition. However other projects (e.g. the People's War website) are likely to have a longer, or even permanent, duration.
MVE, as a publicly funded organisation, also has an obligation to record snapshots of history which may include some User Generated Content i.e. content provided by users. Therefore, some content submitted to or shared with MVE may be retained for prolonged periods of time or potentially indefinitely in MVE's Archive, which is true of News contributions which are published. There may also be rare instances where we will share your contribution with third parties in the interests of maintaining historical archives (e.g. contributions about people's experiences in the World War II were given to the Imperial War Museum). Where possible, we will endeavour to inform you upfront or let you know at a later date where we are likely to keep content indefinitely or pass it onto an approved historical archive.
Under the Data Protection Act you have the right to request a copy of the personal information MVE holds about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. (We charge £10 for information requests and will require you to prove your identity with 2 pieces of approved photographic identification.) For international users accessing the site from outside the UK, the site is made available to you by MVE's commercial subsidiary, Acumen Multimedia Limited. ("AMM"), on a commercial basis (ie some of the pages you access will have advertising on them) under licence from MVE. However all personal information submitted by you to the site goes directly to MVE and will be processed in accordance with this Privacy Policy (and any local terms that apply on websites) unless terms on sites specify otherwise.

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time so you may wish to check it each time you submit personal information to any myvalidemails.com website. The date of the most recent revisions will appear on this page.
A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes a unique identifier that is sent to your computer or mobile phone (referred to here as a "device") browser from a website's computer and is stored on your device's hard drive. Each website can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser's preferences allow it, but (to protect your privacy) your browser only permits a website to access the cookies it has already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other sites. Many sites do this whenever a user visits their website in order to track online traffic flows.
Cookies record information about your online preferences and allow us to tailor the websites to your interests. Users have the opportunity to set their devices to accept all cookies, to notify them when a cookie is issued, or not to receive cookies at any time. The last of these means that certain personalised services cannot then be provided to that user and accordingly you may not be able to take full advantage of all of myvalidemails.com features. Each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.
During the course of any visit to myvalidemails.com, the pages you see, along with a cookie, are downloaded to your device. Many websites do this, because cookies enable website publishers to do useful things like find out whether the device (and probably its user) has visited the website before. This is done on a repeat visit by checking to see, and finding, the cookie left there on the last visit.
Information supplied by cookies can help us to analyse the profile of our visitors and help us to provide you with a better user experience. For example: if on a previous visit you went to our education pages, we might find this out from your cookie and highlight educational information on your second and subsequent visits.
MVE (and AMM in relation to international users) also use a number of independent measurement and research companies. They gather information regarding the visitors to MVE sites on our behalf using cookies, log file data and code which is embedded on our website. MVE and AMM use this type of information to help improve the services it provides to its users. MVE and AMM strictly require that third parties do not use any information for their own business or other purposes (see paragraph 6 above). Certain other areas of myvalidemails.com may use cookies for a specific reason - for example, to help an online game work effectively on your device. If this is the case, the local terms for that area of the website will make this clear and you should refer to those local terms for additional information.
A list of the main cookies that myvalidemails.com sets (and what each is used for) together with ways to minimise the number of cookies you receive can be found at the MVE's Cookie List and How To Reject Cookies.
